History of Our Company

McCarter Electrical Company is a well-established, multi-trade company specializing in electrical, process piping, millwright, rigging, voice/data, and security systems work in NC and SC. McCarter operates out of four locations - Laurinburg, Monroe, Raleigh, and Fayetteville, NC. About 70% of our work falls into the industrial category, with a mix of military and commercial projects throughout our business markets. 65% of this business occurs with repeat customers. We maintain unlimited electrical licenses in North Carolina and South Carolina and hold an unlimited Process Piping license in South Carolina.  

Originally established in 1956, McCarter continues under the same name and family ownership today.  Rodney McCarter and Susan Parker represent the 3rd generation of the McCarter family to serve as owners. McCarter does business as a Woman-Owned Business Entity with Susan Parker being the majority shareholder. Tom Jackson serves as the CEO of the company providing business leadership and is supported by an outstanding staff of loyal and dedicated employees.

McCarter is highly entrenched in several industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, refrigeration, poultry processing, metal and plastic works, warehousing, distribution, wood processing,  automotive parts manufacturing, military, hospitals and medical, and mining. We understand the complex needs of these industries and serve as the preferred vendor for our services with many customers.

Opened in early 2013, the Fayetteville office serves as the home of our commercial construction division and manages commercial and retail projects throughout all of our geographical markets. Fully staffed with exceptional estimating, project management, and field supervision, this office is able to meet any and all of the electrical needs of our customers.   

Representing approximately 120-150 field employees across the states of North and South Carolina, our tradespeople include licensed electricians, certified welders, BICSI certified technicians, controls technicians, millwrights, riggers, and mechanics. In addition, our extensive knowledge of PLCs, variable frequency drives, and all manufacturers of instrumentation gives us the ability to display our expertise in performing work of any voltage, from high/medium voltage power distribution projects down to low voltage specialty systems. Our strong commitment to safety is exemplified by having certified OSHA, CPR/First Aid, NFPA 70E, and MSHA (mining safety) instructors on staff to ensure all employees stay properly trained to address any hazards encountered for all assigned tasks.
